ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (3D PRINTING)

Suitable for Ages: 7 onwards

Digitalization and automation are set to transform the future of manufacturing in Industry 4.0. As additive manufacturing (aka 3D printing) is one of the nine pillars of technologies for Industry 4.0, it is essential for young learners to learn the fundamental concepts of additive manufacturing to future-proof themselves.

Our young learners will learn how to operate a Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printer, download ready designs for printing, with an emphasis ofthe Singapore Laws involved in the downloading of digital design of additive manufacturing parts.

Introduction (3D Printer and 3D Pen)

Learners will learn how to operate a Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printer, the safety aspect of operating the equipment, and test printing a part. They will also get to use the 3D Pen for simple art projects while the printer is in the process of printing the part. They get to learn some simple Science concepts on heat, states of matter, changes of state and energy changes.

Design (TinkerCAD)

Learners will have a foundational understanding of both design and additive manufacturing. They will embark on a simple-to-use CAD system (TinkerCAD) to start their design learning journey. After they have grasped the use of the software, they can continue to hone their design skills after the course
